Hellboy sets sail from the wreckage of a deserted island only to cross paths with a ghost ship. Taken captive by the phantom crew that plans to sell him to the circus, Hellboy is dragged along by a captain who will stop at nothing in pursuit of a powerful sea creature. Following the events of Hellboy: The Island, Gary Gianni draws Hellboy in a brand-new graphic novel.

Comic Bastards - Levi Remington
May 04, 2017Hellboy's latest standalone tale is a must read. If not for Gary Gianni's art, which is immeasurably stunning, then at least for his writing, which crafts a wild and tragic tale woven with poetry and possessed by an obscure devilry that only Mike Mignola could be responsible for. Apr 11, 2017Mike Mignola continues to create this rich mythology around the Hellboy character. Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea builds off of the rich history of the character and his world, giving Mignola the opportunity to pay homage to Herman Melville while adding to the legendary narrative of Hellboy. Working with Gary Gianni, this new comic book creates a moody and lovely chapter in the life of a character that feels as if it was ripped out of a sea shanty to simultaneously enchant and frighten off kids dreaming about life on the open ocean. This is a comic that you'll spend hours looking at every small detail Gianni includes within and appreciate that this is just something that comes once a year if we're lucky. Read Full Review

Apr 03, 2017I'm a sucker for Big Red… I'm also fond of the old classic and tales of the paranormal and unusual. Hellboy Into The Silent Sea ticks so many boxes that it's just a great little read. It's not overly long so it's an easy read… but there's a decent bit of meat on those bones. I could just imagine sitting in a lovely old study… open fire roaring, an aged leather chair seated just so… taking this book off the shelf and sitting down on a stormy night on an cliff overlooking the ocean and as lightning flashes in the distance, thunder rolls… opening the book to enter Hellboy's world.
