This whole series feels like some sophisticated horror writing to me. Bunn doesn’t stick to slashers and poltergeists, because we’ve seen all that before. Instead, we get a multi-pronged, sub-texted story with a lot of elements within it: the concept of the “outsider,” the acceptance of one’s family, constant judgment, community service, respect for our elders, etc. The list goes on and on!
