Feb 04, 2021Ultimately then, this feels like yet another win for Kindt and Jenkins. A tasty, supernatural-tinged mystery with a strikingly unconventional art style. As I mentioned above, this is very much a slow-burner of an opening chapter, and while the narrative is yet to fully embrace the potential of its premise, there are enough hints here not to mention the stellar pedigree of the creative team to ensure that this is an incredibly easy title to recommend. Feb 04, 2021Fear Case #1 brings readers further down the rabbit hole of Matt Kindt and the Jenkins by weaponizing an idea of pulp fiction and how it threatens this story's main characters. Because the effort to make these buddy cop (agents?) feel like people is phenomenal. Read Full Review

Feb 04, 2021Theres enough in Fear Cases first issue to justify following the series at a monthly basis. This is the kind of comic one desperately wants to continue reading once an issue is done. On top of that, it just comes off as a very good pilot episode for a TV series, like the first episodes for Fringe and The X-Files. Much like those shows, Fear Case hooks you in immediately and I doubt youll put up much of a struggle given how good it is. Read Full Review

Feb 07, 2021What's in the box isn't as nearly as important as the effect it has on those who come within its orbit. Fear Case #1 is the opening salvo of what looks like will be a strong series, with elements both natural and supernatural, as our True Detective styled secret service agents find themselves trapped within the coils of.the Fear Case. Feb 02, 2021While it may take a little for the art style to grow on you, it is wonderfully vivid and completes this moody, gothic detective story. If you are in the mood for something new, yet familiar at the same time, Fear Case #1 is something you may want to pick up for an interesting read. Read Full Review

Feb 03, 2021Even if the answers to some of the questions that have been presented in this first issue don't turn out to be as interesting as the questions themselves, Matt Kindt has done an excellent job of making me look forward to what's coming in the future. Read Full Review

Feb 02, 2021Though Fear Case #1 debuts with an intriguing premise, it falls at times into formulaic territory. The art may be worth the price of admission for some, but for others, that wont make up for the conventional narrative. Read Full Review
