One of my main criticisms of Buffy Season 10 is that it seemed like the title character is stuck in an advanced adolescence, refusing to accept the responsibilities that come with being an adult. I'm happy to see that this season is off to a great start with the exact opposite. Buffy is grabbing hold of this problem with both hands, refusing to accept the new status quo. What makes things doubly challenging is that this enemy is not something that she can punch or stab. She's fighting the United States government while also possibly evil, is unlike any other opponent she's faced. Read Full Review

For Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 11 #2, Buffy maybe facing being divided from the people for whom she cares the most is the least of her worries. Any fan right now might find themselves hurting by the end of this issue, but you ask how can things can get worse and this is what you get. From here hopefully we take that next step in a more personal perspective from the supernatural world now that the government has made their move. Read Full Review

Although things go from DEFCON 4 to DEFCON 1 with an alarming rate of speed in this issue (due to the season's shortened run), by the end of issue two we know exactly what this season is about. At a time where there's a growing hatred for "others," the season arc is certainly timely. The end reveal that the United States wants to round up a certain type of individuals and throw them into internment camps is certainly chilling. Just how will Buffy and the Scoobies respond? Unlikely to accept their fate, will they run? Or will the Slayer take on the U.S. Government? Worth a look. Read Full Review

Great story. Great writing. Great art. Great issue! I was, disappointed, to say the least, when Dark Horse announced that BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON 11 would only be 12 issues in length. After reading this issue, I'm over it. It looks like we're still going to get the usual great storytelling but with a lot more story packed in every issue. I never loved the idea of the "real world" becoming aware of the supernatural. That said, since the world at large does knows about Slayers, vampires, etc, Season 11 looks to be, exactly, the tale I've been waiting to be told. PS - Can't wait for the young Giles limited series co-written by Joss Whedon. Score: 8.8

Good exploration of some of the ramifications of the supernatural mythology in the "real world", albeit a little on the nose in its reference to current events.
