Black Hammer/Justice League: Hammer of Justice! #3

I await the next issue with high anticipation. While Black Hammer/Justice League #3 gave us some answers, we still need many more before the whole story's made clear. I personally want to know who the strange man in the bowler hat is, and just what his intentions are. What are your thoughts readers? Do you have a favorite moment yet? Many of the characters and concepts in Lemire's Black Hammer Universe are homages to or pastiches of DC's iconic properties, and I love that Lemire has this opportunity to bring the two universes together for this once in a lifetime event. Great Michael Walsh art and strong characterization leads this blockbuster mashup. Essential for Black Hammer fans, it may also work as a nice intro to the universe for DC fans tempted to explore another book. The buildup continue to go well and each storyline is moving at its own pace and needs. I do like the Black Hammer side more because it's fun to see them out of the farm and their world completely while dealing with unexpected people in the form of the League. The League members on the farm get a decent but of time but it's Stewart and Colonel Weird that are really moving things along and hopefully setting into position to really help. Lemire and Walsh deliver a strong book overall with some creative bits and some fun humor that definitely delights, especially when it comes to Gail. It's an intriguing crossover event that avoids most of the usual cliches of them and gives us a good look at characters crossing worlds. Read Full Review

The remaining JL members interrogate Black Hammer characters about their immediate appearance and the disappearance of the rest of the leaguers, honestly it was fun and seemed interesting but I don't know how they allowed themselves to be kept in and all locked up without putting up a fight. At least Gail seems to know what she's doing when she left. Didn't expect Zatanna there, it was nice to see her help Gail find her true self at the end of the comic. Finally Vic and Bruce happened to find something that may hold a clue of where they're stranded and how to get out of it. Didn't see much of Clark and Diana but it's alright since their attitude towards the place was addressed in the previous issue. The Para-Zone looks like a cool and complex area with its own terms of time and space. Colonel Weird seamlessly explains about the World of Black Hammer and its events to an avid DC reader such as myself through John Stewart. The development gets even more mysterious when it reveals the Strange Man, the one who's reportedly responsible for the switch. And we get to know what really happened to the Flash. For the characters who are trapped in there it may seem like it has happened a long time ago as they also seem to believe Barry died but when Barry ran towards the border, he actually crossed the plane and ends up meeting John on the other side instead, while causing an unexpected consequence that traps the three of them somewhere entirely new! It was brilliantly written and thoroughly intriguing. more
