    ScienceFiction.com - Stuart Conover

Even without much of Baltimore in it the setup, this issue was great and was easy to follow. This one would be a great jumping in point if you don't want to track down all of the previous issues. (Though, if you are a fan of Mignola you owe it to yourself to pick them up as well!) Read Full Review

    Multiversity Comics - Mark Tweedale

Overall, this issue has certain limitations in that is adapting scenes that were originally written with a novel in mind, but it is still an excellent comic. And I can assure you, in the next issue big stuff happens. Read Full Review

Unleash The Fanboy - Russell Johnson

Baltimore: Chapel Of Bones seems to have started off on the right foot and created a stand off which we rarely see in a Mignola story but is positioned to be an epic showdown between good and evil. While mildly cliche it still serves as a great horror based story of vengeance and a book worth checking out for it's great sense of suspense and drama. Read Full Review

Florida Geek Scene - Peter Schmeiser

Beyond atmosphere and the color use, this was a pretty run-of-the-mill story. No twists or turns. There was a good fight scene at the end which established the title character by the last page, but overall, the issue only built towards whatever happens in issue 2. If this were in my pull, I would skip it until I had issue 2 in hand as well, or I wouldnt have any satisfactory resolve. Read Full Review

    Comic Bastards - Carl Boehm

    Jan 01, 2014

Unfortunately, the confrontation comes in the last page. Where this could have been a two-issue fight, the real fisticuffs won't come until issue two. Yes, there's a whole comic of flashback and explication of Baltimore's origin. And, yes, it's still a good comic. Unfortunately, the good fight scenes and eerie atmosphere are sparse.
