A conflict between vizars and breters rages in the city. One side wants to secure a contract with the Council of Balance, hoping to gain their support in the war, while another side just simply hunts their rivals down. In the midst of that are the "couriers", an unfortunate kind of people who can be possessed without a contract, on a demon's whim. And in background another mysterious character, The Host of the Web starts to plot his own affair, hoping to break free of his shackles...
