  This is a dynamite first issue that gives you a great quick primer on a brand new universe. There's no time wasted on exposition or character backgrounds.   With the shadows cast by a war between the Republic of Galaxies and the Galactic Republic (not unlike the bickering between the Judean People's Front and the People's Front of Judea) and a chin-scratching mystery lurking in the shadows, "Rocket Salvage" #1 is fun, different and worth seeking out. It's not "Star Wars," it's not even "Spaceballs," it's a new look at a new world in a story that immediately seems comfortable and familiar as Mercado introduces readers to Primo Rocket, his glory days and his fallow attempts at finding happiness and redemption.   Florida Geek Scene - Brian Reed

  This is probably the hardest kind of book to recommend or not. There's nothing wrong with it, but it fails to really blow me away too. It's good, if you like that kind of thing, which I do! So, if you're into racing comics, or stylized future adventures, or just in the mood to check out a Space Dandy-esque world in comic form, pick this up. If not, it's still a pretty good book.   With a curious cast and a very interesting premise, the opening of Rocket Salvage is a good bit of fun. Issue one is just a tease of what lies ahead as Mercado spends more time allowing the characters and city to breath than on getting plot on the page.
