The critically acclaimed Jim Henson's The Storyteller celebrates four mythic tales of fairies inspired by folklore from around the world and told in the spirit of Jim Henson's beloved television series.
In this first issue, rising newcomer Matt Smith (Lake of Fire, Barbarian Lord) reimagines the "The Elf Queen and the Shepherd," a tale of elven fairies in Iceland.
When a Fairy Princess is cursed to the human realm and cursed to bring death with her, Grettir the Strong must discover the source of the trouble and break her curse.
Upcoming issues will include stories by Benjamin Schipper, Tyler Jenkins, and Celia Lowenthal.

Dec 21, 2017THE STORYTELLER: FAIRIES #1, a heartwarming continuation of Henson's legacy, is possibly the most perfect comic to curl up with this winter. Matt Smith uses "The Fairy Queen and the Shepherd" to turn a couple fairy tale tropes on their heads. Read Full Review

Dec 19, 2017Jim Henson’s Storyteller: Fairies #1 gives us folklore in this all ages mini-series by Matt Smith. This book has an air of mystery with an unexpected twist. The tone of the book benefits by having Smith as the artist. Combined with Dan Jackson’s color palette you can easily imagine this story being performed with muppets. Read Full Review

Dec 21, 2017The issue is enjoyable but it is not breaking any new ground. The art style fits the story well and the story is good for a quick read if you like Archaia's Jim Henson's Storytellers series. Also, if you were a fan of Jim Henson's Storyteller TV snow, this issue will definitely give you some nostalgia. Overall, I liked this issue, but I don't know that I'll be actively searching out the rest of the miniseries, but would definitely read them if I stumbled across them. Read Full Review
