Buffy the Vampire Slayer #7 brilliantly captures your heart through the direct consequence to Willow giving up half of her soul to save Xander. Bellaire's excellent writing mixes with Milledge's wonderful guest artwork to create another great issue of a series that has remained entertaining from the start. The storytelling is definitely exciting, but Milledge is the hero of the week as her illustrations contributed to the day being saved. Read Full Review

On its own, this issue is a great character study and a nice change in structure. Unfortunately, it also exacerbates one of the biggest problems this series has shown so far. Which is that its so decompressed that it feels like nothing happens issue to issue. Heres hoping the title can pick up the pace overall while still finding time for moments like these. Compared to the show, it's moving through big events dramatically quicker (largely due to how long an issue lasts compared to a 42-minute episode of a 22-episode season) and is more directly serialized, but it's the emphasis on character which shows just how alive the series is at its core. David Lopez and Sas Milledge deliver some interesting and well-done art in the issue as well. Both artists compliment each other's styles and the tone of the story. Read Full Review

Taking place mostly inside Willow's mind, on the final couple of pages the comic does offer a bit more of the usual back-and-forth between Xander and Willow suggesting that, at least for now, things are getting back to normal (or what passes for normal in Sunnydale, at least). Although a little light on the original storytelling this issue,Buffy the Vampire Slayer #7 nonetheless delivers a well-crafted slice of character-driven introspection, turning two fan-favorite characters on their heads while still remaining true to who they are. Overall, I'm unsure if I can come back into the book. The jump away from Mora's art has been frustrating for the most part and I'm unsure what to do as a reader. Bellaire's narrative is beautiful and she understands the characters but sadly, Lpez's art doesn't. Read Full Review

My wife and I both read issue 6, and started reading this and felt like we missed an issue. Either the end of issue 6 was badly written or instantly forgettable. I vote the latter.
