Buffy the Vampire Slayer #4 has everything a Buffy fan could ask for, beginning with the Scoobies' perfect reaction to Giles offering them a night off. From there we get relationship drama, internal conflict, the big bads plotting, and a cliffhanger right as a key character reaches a major turning point. Read Full Review

Any worries about whether the reboot would be in good hands are wiped away by these extremely strong first 4 issues. Issue 5 will hopefully reveal the strength of Xander's character. And I think that is the first time that the end of an installment of Buffy leaves me wondering: 'what will Xander do next?!'. Read Full Review

This is the best issue of the series yet, due to one character getting some solid focus. In fact, this issue is entirely character driven with no slaying whatsoever. I liked how uncomfortable Buffy was in trying to be social and the Scoobie on the final seven pages is spectacular. The visuals remain strong, though I don't like the stylized blur used by Mora. The dialogue font is also very limp looking. These are really minor nicks, because this an enjoyable issue. Read Full Review

This issue focused mainly on the scoobies and their personal lives. Not a ton of action, but it's nice to see what the gang does when they're not slaying vampires and demons. It was also interesting to get inside Xander's head more in this issue to see what he's really thinking. So even though I've been spoiled by action with this comic, I know character development is also important. So is story-telling. Read Full Review

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #4 is a solid entry to the series, though a bit of a letdown after the high-octane action of the previous issue. As a quieter, character focused issue, it exposes some of the potential faults in the changes made to the series cast. However, if Bellaire is able to execute on these changes and stick the landing, the new Buffy has the potential to be as well regarded by the hardcore fans as the material its based on. Ending with Drusilla feeding off of Xander, and a cameo by Angel, we are left to wonder about his final fate. Does Angel save him? Or will Xander become a member of team vamp? Worth a look. Read Full Review

Another great issue. This issue proves that this reboot isn’t pulling any punches and won't rely on the established nostalgia to keep people interested.
