Buffy the Vampire Slayer #23

A large ensemble cast of both heroes, villains, and those in between, each with differing motivations, makes for interesting reading. The conflict that has slowly been building is coming to a head, and it's difficult to guess where all the pieces are going to end up. There are plenty of mysteries still to be explored here, and that's without mentioning the multiverse which has been slowly teased recently. Buffy fans are sure to love this issue. Read Full Review

A way station in a longer narrative arc, Buffy the Vampire Slayer #23 brings all the familiar feels that the show did - compellingly drawn characters in dangerous situations, squabbling and bickering, but always having each other's backs - even if sometimes there's something very pointy heading in its direction. I wish I understood baseball to use the terminology but Buffy often misses the first pitch and when it does hit, it's far from a home run. It has the potential to be so much more with the characters being much more interesting and nuanced to their television counterparts but it never gives what it sets out to deliver. Read Full Review

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #23 feels like it has moved the story along, but really, it has muddied the waters a bit. It isn't bad per-se, but it isn't super strong either. I think, when one goes back and reads this as part of the collected works, it will be a nice strong condiment. You would notice if it wasn't there, but you won't think too much about it. I feel like the Ring of Fire tease and the multiverse theory has been dragged on long enough. Let's get to it. Read Full Review
