Eye On Comics - Don MacPherson
Oct 19, 2009Churillas artwork is rather light in tone, which makes for an interesting contrast with the more gruesome aspects of the story. Its quite effective, though. He conveys the raw power that the title character possesses, and colorist Matthew Wilson does an excellent job of reinforcing the depth of the wounds that the Anchor sustains, as well as how that pain is channelled into power. Churillas designs for the demons in hell are rather simple and uninteresting. Read Full Review

The Weekly Crisis - Ryan Schrodt
Oct 15, 2009I think that Phil Hester has a cool concept here that could be really interesting once it is fleshed out a bit more. Unfortunately, there aren't enough specifics of the plot of the series in this issue to really suck the reader in and, quite frankly, the art just isn't that good.
