EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT IRIS is a unique title, with plenty of opportunities for fresh storytelling, and a rich, deadly world. I'm pleased with Brian Buccellato's decision to keep Iris' past intact rather that rebooting the series; sometimes a fresh start is too clean, and Iris has a great deal of experiences to learn from (and heal from) as she moves forward into new intrigues. The art style on the book isn't my favorite -- sexy ladies are great, but impractical posing and pouting aren't -- but I'll be sticking around because the story is interesting, and it's truly different from anything else out right now. The story might've not given that big impact but it sure has piqued my interest. It's an opening issue afterall so the pace's bound to pickup and more depth would be unravelled soon. However, as for the art, I wish our folks in Aspen would reconsider the look that they want for the Executive Assistant. Sexy ladies with voluptous bodies are great, but I want to read about Iris the Executive Assistant and not Iris the model or porn actress. If that were the case, I could've grabbed some Japanese hentai comic instead. This time I'd be checking out what's next because of the story so I hope the art would help out in the next issue. I'm so impressed that Aspen is releasing so many titles' first issues for only a dollar. It's a great way to get people, like me, to try out their line of books. That said, I'm glad I tried this, but I'm not coming back. The story didn't do anything for me and the art wasn't consistent. Read Full Review

While this book is still attached to the past, it gets us up to speed effectively and is packed with action. i like the writing,characters and background flavor. On the downside, it boarders on sexist hormone baiting with every other pose being that of a model. If they bring up the 'strong woman' angle more, it could help balance that. Or it could go the softcore route, either way it will probably earn a following. Certainly worth trying out for $1!
