Jughead #9

Jughead #9 hits a home run in this debut issue from new team Ryan North and Derek Charm. Together they crafted a funny, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyable issue that actually deals with a potentially problematic and complicated subject. This one is more definitely worth your while and provides a good jumping on point for those who haven't hopped on the Jughead bandwagon. Also, Charm's cover is amazing. While the departure of the original creative team usually portends a dip in quality, Jughead #9 shows no sign of slumping as it heads into its new arc. Ryan North and Derek Charm adhere to the title's original tone and sense of humor while not playing it safe with their storytelling and developing Jughead past his love of food and aloof nature. Jughead #9 is an issue that changes up the characterization of a character we've gotten so used to"just a bit, anyway. This is an awesome look at Jughead acting like an actual, normal teenager (like the rest of his friends).
