    This is a seriously humbling story about some insanely terrible truths. I cannot wait to read issue #2 to see how Josh handles everything that has just happened. As for now, I'm stuck with feeling angry (about the content) and impressed (of the execution). The creative team on this series has done a really amazing job of drawing us in.     Horror DNA - James Ferguson

    Hass is pitched as Romeo & Juliet meets American History X, which is a pretty apt way of describing it.  Creator B. Alex Thompson pulls you in with relatable characters and just when you think they're going to have a nice happy ending, he pulls the rug out from under you and changes everything.  Aliens don't fly in and the dead don't rise.  Instead, the monsters in Hass are real and just as terrifying.  They're capable of true evil.     But like I said before, I would happily stick around for more. I'm hoping Hass was written this way to create a stark contrast in his growth arch. That would make me very happy, and I'd forgive the thinly-veiled set up. It IS a first issue, and they're rarely the strongest part of the story, so I am left wanting more. And as much I don't like the character right now, I do want better things for him. The book's not perfect, but it's off to a good enough start, and a few easy changes could really make it something fantastic. Read Full Review

    There is something here but I am unsure of the direction this book is going to take in #2. The shift from the romance to the violence made it really feel different and I respect the creative team for staking out that ground. Notwithstanding that, the focus on Josh left Maggie as more of a cypher than a character and it was a tad too heavy in dialogue/narration for me. I am curious about the further direction but I wish this issue had provided some indication of what is to come. Read Full Review
