Red Atlantis is a modern play at the familiar stories that I grew up within the 80s, just pushed decades beyond the end of the Cold War instead of right in the middle of it. It's a natural angle to work because there's so much to draw on there and it hits a certain sweet spot of nostalgia for me as well. Phillips' story works well even if I'm frustrated by the back and forth storytelling that I didn't pick up on at first but it made for a smoother second read. Carey's artwork is great with Rosh nailing the color design just right for this. I'm definitely curious to see where Miriam's story is going to go, if there's a neat twist ahead or something a bit more familiar to tickle the nostalgia for me. Read Full Review
