Jan 29, 2017I think what the strongest attribute is with AMERIKARATE, and one you may not even be able to promote, is the feeling you have while reading it. It hearkens back to a time in our youth when we were more innocent. When reading a comic book felt like a getaway in which you could immerse yourself into this world and just revel in that happiness. That's what AMERIKARATE brought out for me. A feeling of comics being fun again. Of being able to open the cover and just be entertained the entire book. I know that the next issue will surely keep my laughing and I look forward to following along with Sam on his journey and his fight for his right to fight karate! Read Full Review

Feb 21, 2017The story was a bit disjointed but, they have so many places to go here. I can't wait to see where Kalman and McKinney take us next, and with Roth materializing their vision I expect many laughs to come. Read Full Review

Mar 02, 2017Overall, the book is flawed but has potential. The humor is hit or miss and I'm not sure if the similarity to Bob's Burgers art style will be enough to maintain goodwill throughout. So far, it's a fun ride, but one has to hope they either get the story moving or find their comedic voice in the coming issues or the premise will wear thin. Read Full Review

Big Comic Page - Craig Neilson-Adams
Mar 02, 2017Ultimately, AmeriKarate is a book which is under absolutely no delusions about what it really is, and is all the better for it. Its a broad, crass and gloriously unsubtle love letter to 80s movie excess, and while the jokes dont necessarily all land, theres still a lot of fun to be had here in a switch off your brain for a few minutes and enjoy the madness kind of way. Comic Bastards - Dustin Cabeal
Mar 01, 2017While the story wasn't weird enough to chase me away, I never really understood Rick's character. He was funny sure, but even in this zany world, he felt out of place. Otherwise, it's an entertaining story that's filled with movie references from anyone in their thirties childhood and for that reason alone worth you spending a few bucks for a laugh. Mar 16, 2017Not every book that I come across is going to appeal to me of course. I'm sure there's an audience for this title and I hope that they find it. Unfortunately, I was not one of them and have to chop my way out of this title. Read Full Review

This comic is stupidly, absurdly hysterical. Which I believe is the point. Nailed it.
