All in all, though presenting as a mere invasion story, God is Dead has the potential to be something great and also controversial. But it also makes readers ask questions such as the use of polytheistic deities rather than monotheistic Gods as well as the tone of the comic, will this story offend religious or non-religious adherents? Hopefully, it will as well as be more darker and edgier. In addition, the art is not something to be amazed about it, feels very traditional however consistent through out the issue. Overall, the concept is sound but specifically being a first issue the execution could have been a lot better.

All in all, the story of this first issue is quite all over the place with many narratives occurring simultaneously. This may seem to be quite annoying to readers however I did not mind this aspect about the comic, as a comic of this calibre, I believe, is slowly being set up to be an engaging and familiar story supports will love. The art direction provided by Mike Mayhew and colourists; Rain Beredo and Brad Anderson are absolutely magnificent. The designs of this universe is a breathe of fresh air, with new takes on characters, locations and also vehicles. Being so detailed and subtle, on the colours aspect, it feels as if the tone of the original Star Wars trilogy was implemented into this first issue. Overall, if you were as curious as I was, in regards to the Star Wars film franchise, I would recommend you purchase this issue.

In summation, I have found this issue very much pleasing in regards to story and art. Not only is it much better than it's first issue but also provides aspects of drama, tension and urgency from the films and implements them into this issue. Being only a second issue, I have reserved judgement for anything negative till I reach half-way of the story. Although, being nit-picky there was a small section I found to be just ridiculous and very much disrespectful. Overseeing that one section, this issue delivers, by far it is better than it's predecessor and it is very much enticing and intriguing. Supporters of the franchise or not it is comic book readers will enjoy.

Overall, I enjoyed this first issue of The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Not only is it very stylistic, thankfully from Becky Cloonan and Dan Jackson, but the story demonstrates a lot of promise. The highlight for me was the narration from the disc jockey. The only negative I found about this was the long wait for the next issue.

In summation, this issue Way, Simon, Cloonan and Jackson provide an emotive expansion to the The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Providing more for this dystopian world and its characters through the art direction and story which is by far the selling point for me. With more to come readers may assume this is coming along slowly however the slow pace allows readers to become more immersed and connected into the story and its characters provided by this fantastic team.

Yet, once again, another solid read. There is really nothing I can say bad about this issue. The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys continues to be an ever expanding world that offers something new with each issue. The dialogue and visual aspects as well as the themes of the issue make this unique story very coercive and thrilling. Look Alive, Sunshine.
