This type of book has the potential to get new readers into comics, and if like me you have friends asking where to start reading comics, DC have offered a good starting point here and one I massively recommend it to fans new and old.

While its hard to say if a run will be any good based on a single issue I got to say the Lemire / Sorrentino era looks promising and while we are yet to see what we will see over the coming issues Lemire's promise of GA as 'a really big crime noir superhero story' has got me very excited. Oh and this is great jump on point for anyone who is watching Arrow and wants to give the comics a shot.

A great start on point for the series. Vertigo it ain't. Get that idea out of your mind and this is a fun title. I'd recommend this for anyone that wants to ease into something a little different from just typical superheroes. It won't be too jarring to read and will open you up to other types of characters and genres.

Holmes fan or not, give this book a go, it's an Indie title that will undoubtedly get more attention as it goes on. Rest assured this is not a gimmicky book that only has its concept going for it, what we have here a showcase of good writing and art driven by smart ideas. A good detective book that does not tag itself to another genre or uses fantasy elements is hard to find in comics and if it's a good one it deserves attention. Watson & Holmes is a good one.

This book could have potential. John is still his conman self and he isn't totally out of place in the new DC universe. But this book is not a Hellblazer replacement. I knew it never could be simply because it loses the 'anything could happen' feel that the Vertigo title had. This feels sanitized, not seeing John curse takes getting used to. Having said that the horror seen in recent DC books shows that a book without the 'mature readers' stamp can still shock, I just wish this one would. Lemire himself has shown in his other titles that he can do horror but we see none of that here so far and it seems like that might be what's missing. Fingers crossed for the next few issues.
