The script is a bit too light on text for me to give it a top rating, but it has all the makings of something good. Gustavo Brocanello is a star in the making. We'll see him again. Count on it.

Feathers is a breath of fresh air. Its fun, action-packed, and subtly smart in its subtext. The themes of class warfare, gentrification, and even the dangers of a dominant military machine are all layered wonderfully under a facade of gloriously cartoonish adventure. If you want a story to read to your kids that will delight them and teach them something about the world at the same time, pick this book up immediately.

“Invincible #111″ is the first issue in Robert Kirkman's “bold new direction for the title”. According to the solicits, this new direction would see the title “Suddenly infused with more gore and terror than a zombie apocalypse.”

It would have been very easy for The Walking Dead to go off the rails with the jump forward in time. With far less in the way of immediate danger from roamers, the page-to-page stakes don't seem nearly as high. Instead, writer Robert Kirkman has opted for a much slower burn, first establishing the scope of the new world which the survivors have managed to construct, it's value, and finally its fragility. Where before only individual and small-group survival was at stake, now The Walking Dead is placing an entire (and perhaps the last) civilization in the balance.
