All in all, this is a good set-up issue for what should be a fun series. In a lot of ways, this feels like the start of a roller coaster, leaving us sitting right at the tipping point with a maze of loops and corkscrews waiting for us.

Two things I love are magic, and a good mystery, so for me this is pretty much perfect. Essential reading for fans of the novels, then, and If you haven't read the books beforehand, then I really really really really recommend them. Really!
