To Sum Up: This is not a great start to a series. Its ideas are tired and its characters clich. BUTthere might be a glimmer of potential here that if realised could make for a great story.

To Sum Up: Perhaps the most frustrating thing about Druckmanns tale is that it had the potential to be great but it just doesnt deliver on its intriguing premise. Too tame to be a full blown fantasy-horror story but too lacking in feeling to be a romance story, A Second Chance at Sarah floats in the narrative abyss not quite sure of the story it wants to be or how to tell it.

The wheels are beginning to move forward in Nailbiter all the while keeping the reader in a tense state of unknowing. This is the best kind of thriller that defies expectations and keeps us guessing.

A fun issue, but one that just opens more subplots while other established plots go ignored.

The stakes are raised in this issue as the Rat Queens face threat a bigger than anything theyve dealt with so far. Wiebe times himself perfectly here and knows when to leave off on a good cliff-hanger.

To Sum Up: Issue 3 is a fast paced issue that adds more elements to the plot and the comics mythology without ever getting bogged down. With its great art and fascinating story Nailbiter will continue to be one of the most addictive comics on the market.

To Sum Up: While this is definitely a come down from the promise of the first issue, Ellis does pose some interesting theories that may become the crux of the drama as the series progresses. However, the series is also in danger of becoming overstuffed with unrealised characters and needs to gain a better flow between transitioning from one set of characters to another.

Recommended For: Those who are looking for a refreshing and emotionally charged diversion from the typical pulp of mainstream cinema.

Recommended For: Fans of Camille Claudel and Juliette Binoche and those who are gluttons for misery.

To Sum Up: Hendersons art is consistently excellent and really captures the tone of the book though it is becoming more clear that plot rather than character exploration is Williamsons key concern in this series. However, in a story about a kitschy serial killer, that can be forgiven.

Recommended For: Those who are willing to abandon their critical thinking and rationality at the cinema door or those who just love to indulge in weepy emotional dramas, quality be damned.

Recommended For: Everyone and anyone who appreciates good 3D, a good story and the directorial stylings of Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Perfect for all age groups.

Recommended For: Horse lovers and probably no one else beyond that!

Recommended For: Those who simply want to see a silly rom-com and nothing else.

Though it has its problems, Nailbiter promises to be one of the most hotly discussed series released this year. Its a tense thriller with enough horror elements to keep the reader at the edge of your seats and nervous about flicking over to the next page to see what gruesome image awaits you.

Trees is an intriguing new take on the alien invasion genre; its that bit harsher, that bit colder and completely outside the conventions of what we would understand contact with intelligent extra-terrestrial life to be like. But Ellis can always be counted on to play with the boundaries of expectation. This is a promising beginning to what will hopefully be an engaging, though maybe slow burning, series.
