Sliced Quarterly balances the various stories it contains extremely well. This issue has multiple narratives which will emotionally incline you to exchange horror and laughter in alternating doses. As stated before, these are brimming with the sense that each creator has something important to demonstrate to society, and these experimental styles certainly bring a new perspective and depth to the comic book genre. Again, proving that comic strips can be used for much more than just superheroes but as tools for personal and social exploration.

Overall, I enjoyed Packs of the Lowcountry. It starts with a fantastic B-movie vibe, with an acceptable tinge of the superhero genre. I dub this a worthwhile read and I'm excited to see what comes next from this creative team!

This is a compelling initial issue which brings forward a multi-layered series of background narratives which no doubt will be expanded upon in subsequent issues. The main draw for me is the relationship between mentor and student, and the depth of the characterization of both. There's a unique and fresh approach to a now-popularly-depicted series of historical events. If you fancy a good, imaginative and fascinating story, this is well worth picking up!

This narrative seems like a missed opportunity. Too many cliches, not enough character exposition and a hackneyed environment. The industry is awash with similar story ideas which have been conveyed with more substance. Consequently, it is very difficult to recommend this title.
