Brian K. Vaughan is one of the best writers in comics today, and Marcos Martin is on the rise with his recent work on Mark Waid's Daredevil. Between the compelling new world and the great art, this comic is not to be missed. The pay-what-you-want mentality of its release is just the cherry on the cake.

The Mire is an absolute must read. Even if you have no interest in the story, the art is not to be missed. Whether it be for her self-published books or her work for major publishers, Becky Cloonan isdefinitelya creator to keep an eye on.The Mire is available in print directly from the creator, or in digital form fromComixology.

It is hard to say whether or not Relaunch is worth your time. On one hand, the story and dialogue are not terribly compelling. On the other hand though, this comic makes inventive and interesting use of a feature that is really exclusive to the digital comic format. Relaunch is only 99 cents, so it may be worth your while just to see how the creative team has pushed the envelope.

Perhaps the best thing to be said of this comic is that, as is very important in a thriller, it is genuinely surprising. Not wanting to give too much away, there are twists in this inceptive issue that even a jaded veteran reader of thriller comics may not see coming, and it ends on a tantalizing cliff-anger. This writer for one awaits the next issue with bated breath.
