Star Wars: The Legacy Of Vader (2025) #1

An enjoyable start. The characterisation of Kylo Ren is well realised, an authentic feeling look at a weak, confused, petulant and powerful man I like the return of Vaders attendant, Vaneé, it’s a good use of a minor character

This whole series has been badly written. Characters don’t have the space to develop, relationships aren’t established, meaning that Luke’s journey doesn’t make sense, the spice runners powerbroker he meets hasn’t been shown to have the power to make a difference in the war or properly explore why he would take sides Adelhards rise and fall and rise again has been frustratingly short and underdeveloped The climax feels unearned, it comes out of nowhere. A lot of plot twists just haven’t been set up. I’m unsure why there’s a ground battle on Jakku, other than there needs to be one because Ray lives in a destroyed AT-AT in The Force Awakens This series should have been a much longer story told over a couple of years over multiple books

Star Wars: Battle of Jakku (2024): Last Stand #4

What was the point of any of the Adelhard plot? The imperial remnant is completely ignored for a nobody Moff who didn’t do anything, turns up partway through the battle and is immediately neutralised The crux of the battle is the destruction of the Super Star Destroyer Ravager. But we’ve not spent any time with the commander of the ship, or any of the imperial remnant associated with it, instead we’ve wasted time on Adelhards nonsense. Once again a climactic moment feel uneventful The whole 12 issue story was set over a year. It was a real mistake to condense so much time into 12 issues, and do it as poorly as this. For comparison, the time between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi was also a year, and was 50 issues of the main book, 50 issues of Darth Vader, and however many issues of Bounty Hunters and Doctor Aphra. That’s what was needed here again
