Good review man. You add a lot to this website and totally aren’t watering down reviews with these crazy low scores with no explanation. Loser.
FINALE! Doom has confronted all of Earth's heroes in battle - and he's won. What's more, he's used the magical power of Sorcerer Supreme to ensure that this victory has become a fixed moment in time: a thing that will stand forever, impervious to magic or time travel alike. But unbeknownst to Doom, in that climatic moment that can now never be changed, the seeds of Doom's downfall were also fixed for all eternity. Left with an intolerable defeat that cannot be changed, Doom makes a choice he can never undo - and the rest of the world will pay his price... ...it all comes down to this in the big finale of ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM! One World Under Doom #9 ends on a perfect and heartbreaking note. The creative team came into this run all gas and no breaks, and they didn't stop until the run was finished. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom upped the stakes with every issue. And each time, North made it clear that Doom was unbeatable so long as he chose to be unbeatable. On top of that, Doom took actions that could change the world forever (or at least until the next major event). Readers could be forgiven for expecting a reset button type finale. North, Silva, and Curiels final issue is anything but that. One World Under Doom #9 is a character driven, surprisingly sentimental, world shaking conclusion to one of the smartest Marvel events in a long time. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom #9 is a heartfelt wrap-up to an unsettling series, that rattles the status quo of the Marvel Universe and leaves the future up in the air. The narrowed focus to several core characters allows Doom's final act to resonate throughout the finale. Read Full Review
Overall, One World Under Doom #9 is a wild, fun, and exciting conclusion to a special nine-month run. While the resolution was a bit of a “villain beats himself” scenario, the emotional beats landed, and the setup for the future is incredibly strong. Read Full Review
As a blockbuster that had tried to also have a noble conversation about fascism and how it has become acceptable and favored, One World Under Doom Issue 9 both staggered and shone at times. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom #9 is an interesting event finale. It doesn't end with a bang, but rather a whimper. It's pages focus on delivering a Doom that's more than the cold, calculating individual we're used to. Instead, it leaves an intriguing future for the Marvel Universe and an even more intriguing future for Doom. One World Under Doom #9 nails down its themes but overall lacks real emotion and connection. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom #9 looks great. Artist R.B. Silva and colorist David Curiel make this finale look as epic as possible even without a major action sequence. It is just to bad the narrative choice of how to end Emperor Doom's rain is a swing and miss. There are elements to the fairy tale angle that works. But it is such a dominant narrative device that it creates a feeling that this finale ran out of time in order to maximize its full potential. Read Full Review
The Pax Victoris comes crashing down in One World Under Doom #9. As far as we or anyone in the Marvel Universe can tell, Doctor Doom is dead, and his empire has turned to ash. He claims to have given his life to save the girl he calls family. Still, only time will tell how much of Doom's tale is true, or if the universe needed more than just a display of altruism from the heart of the armored despot. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom #9 wears the trappings of a finale but instead pitches readers into another holding pattern, saving its biggest twists for whichever sequel comes next. For those who demand resolution and payoff, this comic is a flashy detour, more spectacle than substance; for art lovers and continuity completists, it's a visually strong but narratively frustrating experience. This event really ended on a high note, centered on character writing with outstanding visuals by RM silva. I cant't wait to read the impact of this conclusion in Fantastic Four, and it's a shame that Sorcerer Surpreme will be written by Steve Orlando, one of the few writers that truly bore me...
It didn't end in a fantastic way, but there were some great moments that made it worth it.
This was a surprisingly good series, I think this is my favorite "Doctor Doom" story of all time. Even though it was a little bit c cheesy and the art wasn't my thing, I did like it. I would recommend this event.
