I have to say that the Batman/Deadpool main story really met the hype of the concept's potential. I don't know if it will work for newer readers who may never have read a DC/Marvel crossover before, especially those who aren't familiar at all with DC vs Marvel, but I was 100% the target audience for this specific story, and it worked on all points for me. DC/Marvel: Batman/Deadpool #1 is perhaps the best thing I have read all year. The main story is full of fourth-wall breaking and funny moments, and each side story brings a variety of emotions to them in unique ways. Read Full Review
Batman/Deadpool is everything you want it to be and more. The humour, fourth wall-breaking storytelling and truly stunning artwork make this one of the most satisfying crossovers in recent memory. The addition of four equally brilliant short story collabs is the bow on top of this already brilliant comic. Read Full Review
So in the end, multiple (if not all) iterations of Batman liked it, Deadpool definitely liked it, Grant Morrison liked it, I liked it, and I can see you liked it too. What I still need to know is, which out of the TWENTY covers are you gonna get? And being as though this review was made about me to mock the great Grant Morrison making things about himself: What covers do you think are Grant's favorites? You know its the law that I get the Sienkiewicz cover, but which other one(s) should I get? Read Full Review
Morrison and Mora do not disappoint with a truly outstanding and entertaining crossover story, backed up by a whole bunch of fun bonus tales. Read Full Review
Batman/Deadpool #1 is a fan's dream comic in every way. The team-ups are fun, the character beats all hit, and every creator involved understands the assignment: to craft a comic that leaves readers with a big, satisfied grin on their face when finished. Let's hope Marvel and DC come together again sometime soon. Read Full Review
Across the board, these stories range from promising to exceptional. Far and away the better of the two anthologies released in the first DC/Marvel team-up in decades. Read Full Review
DC/Marvel: Batman/Deadpool Issue 1 is an adventure through the mind of a true comics god. It felt so rewarding to see Morrison stretch their legs again for both Marvel and DC at the same time. Read Full Review
Batman/Deadpool #1 is a deliriously fun, meta-soaked celebration of comics themselves a collision of worlds that's as wild and ambitious as fans could hope for. Morrison and Mora craft a story bursting with energy and imagination, while the backups make it a full-blown event worthy of "collab of the decade. Read Full Review
Mora delivers stunning art throughout the issue. No matter the genre or world, Mora crafts beautiful scenes with amazing character designs and action. Read Full Review
Batman/Deadpool #1 is a satisfying intercompany crossover that features dynamic work from some of the best artists in comics and a range of tones and types of stories. It's fun to see Grant Morrison turn back the clock to 1990 in some ways while dropping hit and miss one-liners about Gen Z Internet culture and Absolute Batman, and Dan Mora was born for this kind of big, bad action spectacular. However, my favorite stories were the Dr. Strange/John Constantine and Nightwing/Laura Kinney Wolverine crossovers because they were both intellectually simulating and visually enticing while digging to the core of their protagonists and roles in their respective universes. Also, it's kind of epic to see Hayden Sherman draw Ghost Rider and Swamp Thing beating each other up. (One day your Alan Moore, Stephen Bissette, and John Totleben will come, Mr. Blaze/Ketch/Reyes!) DC/Marvel: Batman/Deadpool #1 proves that while corporate rivalry is fierce, the creative energy between these universes is undeniable. Here's hoping this is only the beginning! Read Full Review
On reflection, I think my chief problem with Batman/Deadpool is that it isn't enough. With the exception of the main event, every story in this volume is a great idea that needs more space to be done justice. Hopefully we'll get to see more DC/Marvel team-ups in the future, because honestly I want more. Read Full Review
DC/Marvel Batman / Deadpool #1 understands the assignment by pairing the Dark Knight and the Merc with a Mouth together for a trippy adventure that holds your attention, even if it doesn't always make sense. Pair the main story with four backups that are at least mildly entertaining, and you wind up with an anthology that's far superior to Marvel's version of this cross-publisher collaboration. Better than the first.
The main story was very entertaining but probably my favorite part of this book were the first three backup stories. All three were great and I NEED a follow-on mini series of the Strange/Constantine story.
it's nice to see Grant Morrison come back and write not only Batman, but also Cassandra Nova. I also enjoyed the art, as well as Tom Taylor and James Tynion IV's story. This was a good crossover overall.
My favorite writer of all time returns for a fun team up comic.
Thank you Grant Morrison and hope to see more from you.
Massive improvement over the September Marvel version! This one sees some of the very best writers and artists delivering clever, funny and heartwarming tales of Batman/Deadpool, Constantine/Dr Strange and Nightwing/Wolverine doing what they do best: entertaining fans and saving the world. I’ve read the Batman/Deadpool story several times already and discover new things every time! Highly recommended even if you don’t love all the characters!
And that's how it's done ! While Marvel's issue of the crossover was a big fail, DC's offering is much better.
In the main story, we get the long-awaited reteaming of the creators of Klaus. Though it's not on par with their previous work, Morrison goes adequately bonkers with the story and Dan Mora's art is brimming with details. I'm not sure I got everything but it kept me immmersed and interested.
But the high points of this issue are clearly for me the second and the third stories. Hayden Sherman gives his best illustrating a meeting between Constantine and Doctor Strange plotted by 3 big guns, Snyder, Tynion IV and Williamson. The result is intelligent and true to the 2 characters. And Tom Taylor offers a heartwarm more
