Amanda Wallers path to power begins with a strong tale of conviction over grief. Ridley pens a direct and excellent first chapter with the writing. As much as I've been enjoying Absolute Power so far, there's been one cloud hanging over the whole thing Amanda Waller. She's evolved into the main villain of the DCU, cutting deals with every evil force possible to bring an end to the age of heroes. It's an impressive plot but the character doing it bears little resemblance to the one famously developed by Ostrander and Yale as a ruthless and pragmatic spymaster. So it falls on John Ridley to bridge the gap and try to make sense of this new version of Waller. Read Full Review

Absolute Power: Origins #1 was underwhelming to be honest. There are a couple of highlights, but Waller's motivations don't work for me. Although, I am interested in what happens next based on how the issue ended. On to the next one. Read Full Review
